Inclusivity Statement
My business supports all non-toxic love; regardless of sexuality, race/ethnicity, faith, gender, age, or disability.
Love does not judge these things, and nor do I.
I am committed to allyship, to education and to celebrating people in all their rich and beautiful diversity.
We are in a crucial time for challenging the prejudices and stereotypes present in our culture (and especially the wedding industry), and while I acknowledge that I wish I didn’t have to make this statement, I am aware
that I must.
Photography is personal; it can be invasive, it can get right under your skin and display vulnerability. This is beautiful, but it is also to be respected.
Weddings are a time of love and unguarded sharing of your relationship with those closest to you, and choosing a photographer to document that is a sensitive and important choice - it is my mission to ensure that I capture the reality and truth of my clients with respect and allyship. I am in business to work for *you* - my agenda is to use my skill as a photographer to celebrate people and their love, no matter what that might look like.
It has long been time to celebrate our differences, to lift and celebrate those around us. I am passionate about making my business a safe place for every person, and look to achieve this in the following ways:
Using non-exclusive wording in my website, contracts and social media pages. This includes non-specific pronouns as well as language such as “Bride and Groom”.
Promoting all couples and all diversity where possible in my portfolio, on my home page and social media channels.
Educating myself and being open to correction in reference to issues faced by minority groups, especially in the wedding industry.
Associating with and supporting other wedding industry colleagues who take positive action to be inclusive.
Boycotting any brand or blog, supplier or venue etc who does not uphold equality and diversity values. I refuse to work in an environment which is not available and welcoming to all.
Adding alt-tags on my images in my website to support the visually impaired
As always, I’m up for feedback and education and I’m particularly keen to hear any ideas or suggestions on how I can be a better ally. Do get in touch and we’ll chat and change the world for the better, a little bit at a time <3
